Surgical Ablation is a procedure that is used to treat the rhythm problems of your heart. The surgery is done to treat the small areas in your heart that are disturbing the rhythmic process of your heart. This prevents the abnormal electrical signals or rhythms from moving through the heart. During the surgery, electrodes are placed inside the heart that helps measure the heart’s electrical activity. Basically, these small wires help in finding the main cause behind the electric disturbances in the heart, and once that is located, the disturbing tissues can be destroyed and the problem is solved. Further, a small tube (catheter) is inserted through a cut in the neck into the blood vessels near the heart and the small electrodes are placed with the help of the catheter. The surgery usually takes more than 4 hours and needs constant monitoring by the doctor.
